The Communication Pole of the Pontifical Delegation for the Holy House of Loreto

 

The Pontifical Shrine of the Holy House of Loreto welcomes all the organs of social communication, offering them the necessary information and favoring the work of the media in spreading the message of the Holy House.

The Communication Center is the only responsible for accreditation for all media operators (television, radio, print media, photographers). Each request for accreditation and information must be sent to the email press.santuarioloreto@gmail.com according to the instructions below.

Methods of accreditation for journalists

In consideration of the current pandemic situation, for all video, photo and press operators, the Communication Center is available to send images and photos as, to ensure compliance with current legislation, it will not be provided for certain events. access to the Basilica. The Pontifical Shrine of the Holy House of Loreto [1] welcomes the organs of social communication, generating their necessary information and helping them to enjoy the best conditions for carrying out their work. The Communication Center is responsible for the accreditations and the skills for the guest professionals to whom it is provided, as far as possible, with the answers to their requests useful for the elaboration of news, documentaries and reports.

 

Accreditation

To request temporary accreditation, it is necessary to send the following data to the following email press.santuarioloreto@gmail.com:

  • Name, Surname of the professional and valid identity document (jpg, pdf)
  • Copy of journalist's professional card or copy of a letter from the newspaper;
  • Newspaper you work for
  • Specify whether: Photo, Video or printed paper
  • Professional contacts: email, telephone number;
  • Purpose for which the request for accreditation is requested (event or other);
  • Date of arrival at the Sanctuary.

All accredited participants will be issued with a press pass, to be collected upon arrival in Loreto.

It is possible to request a permanent accreditation which is valid for one year. To do this it will be necessary to send the above only the first time. The journalist with a permanent pass will also be required to inform of his arrival at the following email press.santuarioloreto@gmail.com so that his presence is recognized and favored in his work. Permanent accreditation will be issued to anyone who needs to work at the Sanctuary on an ongoing basis. The institution reserves the right to decide independently on the attribution of this accreditation.

General rules valid for all

Accreditation is individual and personalized so when a communication body sends its team to the Sanctuary, it must request individual accreditation for each of its members, indicating in the mail the name of the team coordinator, who acts as interlocutor. with the Sanctuary itself.

Filming inside the Holy House must be specifically agreed (in time and manner) in order not to disturb prayer and to favor the work of media operators in the best possible way. Media operators who request it can be accompanied by the Communication Center.

Requests for intervention must be specified in the accreditation application. The Communication Center will take care of contacting the requested person and arranging the times and methods of the interview.

Communication operators can carry out their work avoiding being a distraction element for pilgrims in the different contexts of the life of the Sanctuary, in particular in those of a celebratory nature. The atmosphere of silence and concentration is fundamental at this Shrine.

They are not authorized directly inside the Pontifical Shrine (1). For users who follow specific groups, with the only need for direct conferences and meetings at the pre-booked sales, it is possible to send an authorization request, with indication (link) to the reference site / web page. The institution reserves the right to decide independently, after careful consideration, the required authorization.

Spaces prohibited for journalists

Accreditation of journalists does not guarantee automatic access to all areas of the Sanctuary. With the exception of a particular request and the respective authorizations, access to the media is prohibited:

  • in the presbytery area of the various places of celebration of the Basilica;
  • in the area inside the Health Department
  • in the internal area used for confessions
  • it is forbidden to record interviews inside the Basilica, including the Holy House, except for special requests which must be received in advance.

It is forbidden for all media operators to shoot and photos during the live coverage of the Sanctuary in the spaces covered by the cameras. On such occasions, specific spaces will be indicated where to work, which must be scrupulously respected.

The institution reserves the right to decide autonomously on the attribution of the accreditation

 

For television productions

For television and documentary productions that intend to carry out a project at the Pontifical Shrine, the following procedure can be followed.

Make a written request, sending a copy of the project to be carried out, objective, specifying whether the project has a commercial or devotional nature and television outlets. Furthermore, it is necessary to indicate the number of people of which the crew will be composed, and to provide an indication of the amount of equipment that the project plans to use and the times.

After the evaluation of the project, based on what has been presented, the Communication Center will send written authorization, with the regulations to be respected in the place of worship, and will be available for any need that may arise during the shooting.

This request is aimed in the first place at preserving and respecting the property of the Holy See, in all its spaces, and secondly to allow those authorized to work in peace.

[1] “Sanctuary” means the area including the Basilica (upper and lower), the churchyard of the Basilica, the bell tower and the Apostolic Palace. It should be remembered inside the Basilica of Loreto the “Holy House” which, as a relic from which the Sanctuary originates, is subject to particular access and filming conditions for media operators.
